Jordan confirmed the video which is said to have been produced nearly a month ago and retaliated by hanging two prisoners who are members of ISIS. The jihadist grouped had earlier demanded for a prisoner swap, trading Lt. Al-Kasabeh for Sajida al-Rishawi, an Iraqi lady who had been arrested for her role in a 2005 bombing that claimed 60 lives in Jordan. Al-Rishawi was captured after her bomb failed to go off in time, The prisoner exchange did not happen as Jordan officials suspected that Lt. al-Kasabeh had been killed and wanted ISIS to prove that he was alive.
ISIS has killed a lot of people, some of them being Muslims in brutal circumstances by beheading, shooting, stoning and other means as they seek to establish an Islamic caliphate with the name Islamic state. The execution of Lt. Al-Kasabeh displays a heightened level of barbarity, ruthlessness and brutality fueling anti-ISIS emotions globally.
This trend, if left to continue may ruin the milestones made in building tolerance, understanding, human development and respect for human rights and freedoms. In the 22 minute video, they clearly showed no sign of backing down, by justifying their cruel acts with scriptures, with the desire of a prize they cannot get on earth.
Typical to most terrorist organizations, ISIS' inhumane, vicious and sadistic techniques in spreading their propaganda coupled with their misguided interpretation of Islam, Sharia law and disregard for human rights have been condemned and denounced globally. The US is leading a coalition against ISIS involving over 60 nations however, up to now, the terrorist organization has not been contained. The world needs to step up its fight against these organizations, with leaders being at the forefront using the most appropriate muscle in condemning jihadists and fighting extremism in order to end these senseless killing and torture of people.
